About Me

I am an aspiring level and environment designer, taking inspiration from games such as Dishonored, Prey, Halo Wars and Command and Conquer. I am also an aspiring photographer with a primary focus on landscapes and fine details, such as leaves and flowers. I am currently a student studying Games Design at an extended diploma level. I am passionate about creating levels where the player has freedom over how they complete the task at hand, similar to the Dishonored games. I like the idea of having multiple entrance and escape routes in buildings and areas where a high value target is based, as I feel that it creates replay-ability and gives the player a reason to give the game a second or even third play through. I also have an eye for detail, and this was developed by from playing games that have sneakily hidden collectibles and useful items right under our noses, I want to give the player a level worth playing and an end product that will provide hours of fun.

Games:

As a games designer, and one specializing in Level design, I play plenty of games. Some games I play purely because I enjoy playing them, and other I play both because i enjoy them and I feel like i'm learning games design tips from them. One of those games is Dishonored, it's a huge inspiration to me when I design levels because I admire almost all of the levels and how they're put together. That said, it's games like Dishonored that I don't like from mechanics view as i'm terrible at stealth games. I usually prefer massive open worlds in RPG's where I can just do whatever I want to do, like in Xenoblade Chronicles or Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey. I mainly play on PC and Nintendo Switch, so i'd like to think my variety of games is fairly broad.

Interests/Hobbies:

Among my admittedly few interests is Photography. It gets me out of the house and inspires me to create levels around the pictures I take sometimes, even if that level turns out to be just a little experiment in Unity to see what I can make with the idea. I find photography less of going out with the goal to take certain picture, but more of being in the right place at the right time to get a good shot. Sunsets for example, sometimes they're gone is a few minutes so being in a good place at the right time is vital for getting a good picture of a sunset, especially with British weather.

Another one of my interests is walking, obviously walking goes with photography but sometimes I just like to wander around with no set route and see where I end up.

And finally, one of my previous interests, although i am still interested by it, is Warhammer 40K. I used to play the game at my local Games Workshop every week but unfortunately the prices of new figures became too expensive and the figures I owned were slowly being cast out and not allowed to be used, as well as new a new codex almost every year just to be able to play the game. I used to play as either Orks, Space Marines or Imperial Guard, whichever I was in the mood for really.
